div style="text-align: justify;"It was pretty clear from looking at the red carpet at the Golden Globes that headbands are having a moment - and not just for the preppy crowd.nbsp;The a href="http://today.msnbc.msn.com/"TODAY Show/a invited me to make my version of the black velvet headband worn by Michelle Williams at the awards - you can check out my postnbsp;and also have a peek at Michelle's Golden Globes headbandnbsp;a href="http://thelook.today.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/01/25/10234978-diy-michelle-williams-gorgeous-golden-globes-headband"here/a. Read on for the most simple tutorial. Ever./divbr /div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/66755335@N05/6759979063/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="image1 by apairandaspare, on Flickr"img alt="image1" height="449px" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7018/6759979063_05005347b1_z.jpg" width="640px" //a/divbr /br /div style="text-align: justify;"span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit;"bYou need:/b/span/divdiv style="text-align: justify;"span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit;"- Enough black velvet ribbon to wrap around your head./span/divdiv style="text-align: justify;"span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit;"- A couple of inches of black elastic, the same width as the velvet./span/divdiv style="text-align: justify;"span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit;"- A rhinestone or beaded feature for the headband. I used rhinestone embellished ribbon but you can also use a broach, beads, glittery belt buckle, single rhinestones or whatever you want to act as the sparkly feature for your headband./span/divdiv style="text-align: justify;"span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit;"- A needle and thread. /span/divdiv style="text-align: justify;"span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit;"- Scissors./span/divbr /div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/66755335@N05/6760078303/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="image2 by apairandaspare, on Flickr"img alt="image2" height="428px" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7154/6760078303_7e94ccf5a1_z.jpg" width="640px" //a/divbr /br /div style="text-align: justify;"span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit;"bHow to:/b/span/divbr /div style="text-align: justify;"span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit;"1. Cut the ribbon to size by measuring it around your head - leaving a 3 inch gap at the back where you will sew the elastic to make it easier to wear./spanbr /span style="color: #444444;"2. Sew one side of the elastic to the underside of the ribbon.span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit;"/span/spanbr /div style="text-align: justify;"span style="color: #444444; font-family: inherit;"3. Sew the other side of the elastic to the other side of the ribbon. You will now have a round headband./span/divdiv style="text-align: justify;"span style="color: #444444;"span style="font-family: inherit;"4. Try the headband on to make sure it fits properly. Then look to decide where you want to attach your feature piece. Slightly off centre to the left or right side of your head usually looks the best/spanspan style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"./span/span /divbr /div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/66755335@N05/6763063115/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="headband by apairandaspare, on Flickr"img alt="headband" height="480px" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7166/6763063115_b78c417ffa_z.jpg" width="640px" //a/divbr /And you're done! Could it be any easier? To wear it, I put in on while my hair is down, and then lightly pin my hair up once it is in place.br /br /div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/66755335@N05/6760086481/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="image7 by apairandaspare, on Flickr"img alt="image7" height="428px" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7156/6760086481_2b7c4225fb_z.jpg" width="640px" //a/divbr /div style="text-align: center;"Looks perfect worn with a breton top and jeans, or on a night out with a black silk cami and bright pink wide leg trousers./divbr /div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/66755335@N05/6759984275/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="image8 by apairandaspare, on Flickr"img alt="image8" height="418px" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7161/6759984275_d59d6bccfd_z.jpg" width="640px" //a/div/divdiv class="blogger-post-footer"img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/8784775234411105189-7890844497454360233?l=apair-andaspare.blogspot.com' alt='' //div
